Middle School Transition Group
Helping Students Start Middle School with Confidence
Starting middle school is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. New teachers, changing classes, bigger buildings, increased independence, and new friendships can create a lot of uncertainty for students and their families.
Our Middle School Transition Group is designed to help incoming sixth graders build the confidence, skills, and connections they need to begin middle school feeling prepared and supported.
What is the middle school transition group?
This small-group program combines practical middle school skills with social-emotional learning in a fun, welcoming environment.
Students will have opportunities to ask questions, practice new skills, make friends, and build confidence before the school year begins.

Meet Your Program Facilitator
Hi! I'm Marina, and I created the Middle School Transition Group because I know just how big the jump to middle school can feel.
As a certified teacher with bachelor's and master's degrees in education, I've taught both 5th and 6th grade, giving me a unique perspective on the transition between elementary and middle school. I've seen the excitement, uncertainty, and challenges that many students experience, and I know where they often need the most support—academically, socially, and emotionally.
I'm also neurodivergent, which has shaped the way I approach education and relationships. I believe every child learns differently, and every student deserves to feel understood, included, and valued. My goal is to create a welcoming, identity-affirming space where students can ask questions, build confidence, develop practical skills, and realize that they don't have to navigate this transition alone.
I can't wait to help students begin middle school feeling prepared, connected, and excited for what's ahead.Marina Taylor, M.Ed.
